Stephen Schwartz, composer and lyricist of iconic musicals "Wicked", "Pippin" and "Godspell" brings his music to life at the Berman at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 22. With Schwartz on piano, joined by Broadway stars Liz Callaway and Scott Coulter, he will share behind-the-scenes stories and the inspiration that lead him to create some of the world's most beloved musicals that have shaped generations. Schwartz also is the composer and lyricist of "Godspell," "Pippin," "The Magic Show," "The Baker's Wife," "Working," "Children of Eden," "Captain Louie" and "Wicked." In 2008, "Wicked" reached its 1,900th performance on Broadway, making Schwartz the only songwriter in Broadway history ever to have three shows run more than 1,900 performances. The New York City Opera recently produced his first opera, "Séance on a Wet Afternoon."
His film work includes "Pocahontas," "The Hunchback of Notre Dame, "The Prince of Egypt" and Disney's "Enchanted."
