Neighborhood Theatre Group (NTG) is workshopping their newest musical Dispatches from the Decade by local playwright A.M. Dean, with music arranged by the NTG House Band, June 2-4 at Bona Sera Underground (200 W. Michigan Ave) in downtown Ypsilanti.
Performance times are June 2 at 8pm, June 3 at 2pm and 8pm, and June 4 at 2pm. Tickets are $10 general/$5 students (with a valid ID) and can be purchased at the door or online at dispatches.brownpapertickets.com. A full bar for those 21 and up will be available at the June 2 & 3 performances. Free street and lot parking is available downtown Friday after 6pm and on weekends. This show is recommended for ages 13+.
Dispatches from the Dumb Decade is a fast-paced pop/rock musical following a student journalist at the start of a new millennium, a new president, a new war, and a new media. This workshop performance, features actors playing the instruments and stars Eric Hohnke, Tom Hett, Maegan Murphy, Alice Duhon, Aaron Dean, Marisa Linski, and Kristina Fitzgerald with Charles Worth on piano. Directed by Kristin Anne Danko. Join us as we travel back to the 2000's to laugh, cry, and scream in terror at fake news, low rise jeans, strategery, and energy drink cocktails.
Dispatches from the Dumb Decade is the second full length musical by local playwright A.M. Dean. His first musical, Beaver's Long Strange Trip was performed in June 2015 at The Back Office Studio in downtown Ypsilanti. He's had numerous plays produced in Michigan and Chicago including Carl, Baby (Ypsilanti) , The Former Things (Ypsilanti and Chicago), Escape from the Haltzburg Boy's Choir and 15 Minutes (Chicago). A.M. Dean is a resident of Ypsilanti, MI and a proud company member and co-founder of Neighborhood Theatre Group.
Neighborhood Theatre Group is dedicated to cultivating a welcoming and collaborative environment for theatre artists in Ypsilanti, Michigan. Featuring original plays,musicals, sketch shows and cabarets - NTG believes in theatre's ability to bring individuals together. NTG was founded in 2014 by theatre artists Kristin Anne Danko and Aaron Dean after moving to Ypsilanti from Chicago's experimental theatre scene.
