"You Can't Take It With You," the madcap classic comedy, is back on the Playhouse stage. The free-thinking Sycamore family seems mad. One member of the family is manufacturing fireworks in the basement, another has a printing press set up in the parlor, while others pursue dance, painting, and the xylophone in the living room. But the Sycamores' routine is disrupted when daughter Alice brings her fiancé, Tony, and his conservative, straight-laced family to dinner on the wrong evening.
The Playhouse cast is directed by John Viars and features Holli Andresen, Jim Benda, Etta Berkowitz, Emily Davis, Susanna Douthit, Anne Arthur Frett, Cory Hug, Dammon Hughes, Robert Lampe, Arlene McAtee, Michael Meacham, Dakota Rachuy, Jason Rainwater, Farica L. Robertson, Gabe Thompson, and Oliver Thrun.
The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
