With two national tours and a local production getting underway, March will be a busy month in Des Moines. In recent memory there has not been a month in which Des Moines has hosted two national tours. But this month Des Moines Performing Arts' Broadway Series kicks into high gear with both an established hit and production on the road to the Great White Way.

Jekyll & Hyde will lead off the month with an eight-performance run on the road to an April 5th Broadway opening. The show originally opened on Broadway in 1997, but with fresh interpretations and headliner Constantine Maroulis the show is sure to draw a whole new crowd this time around. Jekyll & Hyde opens on March 5th and runs through March 10th. For ticket information visit Des Moines Performing Arts.

Swinging from inner demons to rock 'n' roll royalty, the Broadway Series continues with Million Dollar Quartet. Million Dollar Quartet is inspired by an actual recording session at Sun Records that brought together Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. Featuring hits such as "Great Balls of Fire," "Walk the Line, " and "Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On" audiences will be singing along and dancing in the aisles. Million Dollar Quartet opens on March 19th. For more information visit Des Moines Performing Arts.

The Des Moines Community Playhouse is producing 9 to 5: The Musical at the end of March. The musical only had a short run on Broadway but will be good fit for a local cast. Based on the movie of the same name, 9 to 5 tells the story of three coworkers fighting against a male dominated workplace at a time when women were simply expected to be subservient. 9 to 5: The Musical opens on March 22nd. For more information visit Des Moines Community Playhouse.

Luckily each of these productions is spread throughout the month so you will be able to catch them all!
