Iowa Shares has announced its newest member, Friends of the Center, a non-profit group that offers financial support to The Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center.

Iowa Shares is a statewide coalition of nonprofit organizations working in areas of social change, human rights, environmental protection, the arts and community building, affordable housing, women's issues, aid to families, and animal protection. Nonprofits often need more sources of revenue than may be available through individual fundraising efforts. Iowa Shares fills that need by raising funds for its members through workplace giving campaigns around the state.
Friends of the Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that directly supports activities and programs administered by The Senior Center of Iowa City. The Center offers opportunities for area seniors to get involved with music, dance, and theatre performance; video production; fitness; leisure activities; and social activities. Free professional services are also available, including legal counseling, health insurance counseling, and income tax preparation.

Amy McBeth, Iowa Shares Membership Co-Chair noted, "We're really excited about Friends of the Center joining Iowa Shares. The Senior Center has a history of providing great services and programs to area seniors, and we're happy to help the Friends of the Center gain access to more fundraising opportunities. I'm sure they will bring added energy and great networking opportunities to Iowa Shares and will provide more Iowa Shares donors with another great choice for giving."
