Spectrum Stories is an afternoon of drama experiences tailored to best support the development of pretend play, social interaction, and non-verbal communication. Each session is meticulously planned to enhance creative expression of spectrum youth. March's activities will be based on the book Little Raccoon and the Thing in the Pool by Lilian Moore. In this classic story, a little raccoon is trying to catch dinner for his mother only to be discouraged by the other animals he meets. Will he learn to face his fears?
Developed with the guidance of Professor Gretta Berghammer of the University of Northern Iowa and the Sturgis Youth Theatre, Spectrum Stories utilizes story, music and art to bring imagination to life. The final Spectrum Stories event for this season is Apr. 20, 2019.
The Playhouse, now in its 100th season, is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
