The Des Moines Community Playhouse's Final Act Ensemble presents "Holiday Victory Broadcast, 1945," an evening of nostalgic radio celebrating the first Christmas after the end of World War II, at 7:00 PM, Tuesday, Dec. 15. Tickets are $10 for all ages and available online at dmplayhouse.com and at the Playhouse ticket office, 515-277-6261. Complimentary tickets are available for active duty military, veterans, Guard, and reserves, and may be received by contacting the Playhouse ticket office at 515-277-6261.

"Holiday Victory Broadcast, 1945" presents a program of nostalgic radio that takes the audience back to the first holiday season after World War II ended. The program includes "sneak previews" of "The Shadow," "Suspense," and "My Friend Irma," along with period songs and full episodes of "Fibber McGee and Molly" and "Easy Aces" (a sort of early "I Love Lucy"). There'll also be plenty of banter between announcers to keep things lively and to give the show a period flavor.

The Final Act Ensemble is a troupe of performers ages 60 and older that perform classic and original radio plays, including commercials and live and recorded sound effects. Programs are available for youth, adult, and multi-generational audiences.

The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
