The Des Moines Community Playhouse has the most willy-nilly, tall-taled, edge of your seat, habit-forming, explosive season ever. The theatre's 97th season includes four musicals, plus dramas, comedies, and family shows. Playhouse season tickets go on sale Mar. 17 online at dmplayhouse.com, at the Playhouse ticket office, and by phone at 515-277-6261.

The 2015-16 Mainstage season opens with "Monty Python's Spamalot" followed by a revival of Steven Sondheim's musical fairy tale, "Into the Woods," and the musical most requested by audiences and volunteers on a recent survey, "Sister Act." The Mainstage season also features the classic drama "12 Angry Men" and the survey-topping classic comedy, "You Can't Take It With You."

In its 21st season, the Kate Goldman Children's Theatre continues its page-to-stage tradition of plays adapted from popular books with "Junie B. Jones The Musical," "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," "Sarah, Plain and Tall," and "Sideways Stories From Wayside School."

The Playhouse's 2015 Family Holiday Classic is the musical "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," which will ensure the season is "Truly Scrumptious" when it comes to the theatre in December.

The Playhouse has also announced a non-season show: the return of Billy McGuigan and "Yesterday and Today," an innovative Beatles music experience where the audience's requests make the set list for the evening.

School matinees will be offered for "Junie B. Jones The Musical," "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang," "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe," "Sarah, Plain and Tall," and "Sideways Stories From Wayside School."

The Playhouse is Iowa's largest and oldest producing theatre. Conveniently located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.

For season ticket information, contact the Des Moines Community Playhouse ticket office at 515-277-6261 or visit the Playhouse website at dmplayhouse.com.
