The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents "Rock of Ages," July 15-Aug. 7, 2016. Tickets may be purchased online at dmplayhouse.com, by phone at 515-277-6261, or at The Playhouse ticket office, 831 42nd St. "Rock of Ages" is sponsored by Cognizant.

Are you ready to rock your way through the summer with the cast of "Rock of Ages?"

Drew (Andrew Rubenbauer) is a city boy, born and raised in south Detroit. Sherrie (Hannah Stibbe) is a small-town girl. Both are in L.A. to chase their dreams of making it big. But the rock 'n' roll fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Sunset Strip into a strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri, and the gang save the Strip - and themselves - before it's too late? Only the music of hit '80s bands holds the answer.

It's the musical that will have you on your feet, singing along to classic hair band hits! The lights, shredding guitars, and hammering drums are enough to make a rocker out of anyone!

The Playhouse cast includes Erin Besser, Ryan Besser, Nick Black, Mary Chase, Douglas Cochrane, Rocco Contini, Jason Ehlenfeldt, Demarius Fisher, Samantha Gatwood, Alli Heckart, Colby Jones, Kyndra Lundquist, Miranda Luze, Allissa Magill, Julia Mahlstadt, Zander Morales, Austen Naggatz, and Andrew Overton. "Rock of Ages" is directed and choreographed by Karla Kash, with musical direction by Andrew Ryker.

The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
