The Des Moines Community Playhouse presents the Family Holiday Classic "Peter Pan," tonight, Dec. 6-29. Tickets may be purchased online at dmplayhouse.com, by phone at 515-277-6261, or at The Playhouse ticket office, 831 42nd St. "Peter Pan" is sponsored by DuPont Pioneer.

One night, in their London nursery, Wendy (Meredith Toebben), John (Jones Pfeifer), and Michael Darling (Noah Hackbart) meet a remarkable boy, Peter Pan (Samantha Arneson), and his friend, Tinker Bell. Peter teaches the three to fly - all it takes is happy thoughts and a bit of pixie dust - and brings them to Neverland. There they meet the Lost Boys and have adventures outwitting the dastardly Captain Hook (Maxwell Schaeffer) and his band of pirates.

Based on the play by J.M. Barrie, this enchanting musical version, with its high-flying adventure and tunes such as "I Won't Grow Up" and "I'm Flying," is the perfect Family Holiday Classic.

The Playhouse cast, under the direction of Kathy Pingel with music direction by Steve Woodin and choreography by Alison Shafer, includes Anthony Alvarado, Isaac Anderson, Sean Bates, Halen Becker, Connor Bredbeck, Aaron Coffey, James Collier, Berkeley Coyne, Lee Cutler, Peter Dean, Abbey Ellis, Ruby Elwell, John Greenwood, Katelyn Ilene McBurney, Kelly W. Peavey, Jack Ray, Tricia Richards, Athena Riesenberg, Thomas Rowe, Paige Wilkinson, and Jill S. Ziegler.

Audiences are encouraged to come 30 minutes prior to show time to hear area musicians performing holiday music in the lobby.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
