"Disney's Camp Rock: The Musical" is a 70-minute adaption of both popular "Camp Rock" movies, with favorite songs included from both. In "Disney's Camp Rock: The Musical," Mitchie rallies her friends and fellow camp rockers to compete in the ultimate showdown against Camp Star, the flashy new camp that is threatening Camp Rock's existence.

The cast of 23 includes Michael Bundy II, Julia Cannon, Francesca Cannon, Carson Doss, Heather Garland, Olivia Gorden, Jillian Hess, Keshara James, Serena Johnson, Will Johnson, Zoe Marckmann, Marco Masteller, Joy Mielke, Ellie Miglin, Ranavia Neal, Broghan Patton, Madison Pulica, Olivia Ramaekers, Natalie Riedemann, Sarah Sahlin, Emma Schaben, Skylar Vanden Bosch and Keona Ward-Taylor. "Disney's Camp Rock: The Musical" is directed by Chelsea Haaland, with music direction by Katy Merriman and choreography by Taylor Millar.

The Playhouse Performance Academy is young people creating shows, under the direction of professional artistic staff, complete with sets, costumes, and props. Open to students in grades 7-12, the Academy provides an opportunity for young people to work on the performance skills necessary to go to the next level of acting, college or professional.

This July, the students, representing a variety of Central Iowa schools, have rehearsed 9:00 AM-4:00 PM, Monday through Friday. During the course of this four-week Academy, students learn their lines, dances, songs, and blocking for the featured production. Guest artists have also stopped in for lunch talks.

The Playhouse is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the US. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
