The Des Moines Community Playhouse is holding its Singularly Sensational Sale, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM, today, Oct. 4. The costume sale, in the theatre's lobbies, features pieces from the past 20 years of Playhouse shows, vintage clothing, and fabric and notions. With Halloween right around the corner, this is a great opportunity to find one-of-a-kind costumes.
The Playhouse costume sale has been curated by designer Angela Lampe. Flight attendant uniforms from "Boeing Boeing," stripper costumes from "The Full Monty," select pieces from "Cats," cheerleader uniforms from "Disney's High School Musical," and military uniforms from "A Few Good Men" and "Biloxi Blues" are among the pieces that have appeared on the stage and are now yours to purchase. Also for sale is vintage clothing, especially from the 1950s, and evening dresses suitable for homecoming dances and proms. Lampe and her volunteers will also have Halloween costume suggestions. Hundreds of items in all sizes are for sale. Visit the Playhouse's Facebook page, facebook.com/DMPlayhouse, for photos of some of the items offered for sale.
The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
