The Des Moines Community Playhouse's Final Act Ensemble presents "Radio Days of Summer!," an evening of radio shows, 7:00 PM, Monday, July 20. Tickets are $6 for all ages and available online at www.dmplayhouse.com and at the Playhouse ticket office, 515-277-6261.
"Radio Days of Summer!" is presented in two acts. The first half of the program consists of old-time radio fun, including a special sneak preview of "Blondie;" Dick Tracy in "Murder Under the Big-Top;" "Fibber McGee and Molly Go Camping;" and a brand-new episode of "The Frumples" with George and Effie lost in a haunted house. The first act also features three nostalgic 1940s songs. The second act is the troupe's popular sound effects show, highlighting radio and film sound effects techqniques.
The Final Act Ensemble is a troupe of performers ages 55 and older that presents classic and original radio plays, including commercials and sound effects. Programs are available for youth, adult, and multi-generational audiences.
The Playhouse is beginning its 97th consecutive season and is one of the oldest and largest community theatres in the nation. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
