The Des Moines Community Playhouse play reading series features "Completeness" by Itamar Moses on Monday, May 7, at 7:00 PM, at the theatre. The evening is free; beverages will be available for purchase.

"Completeness" is an imaginative new romantic comedy that explains how a computer scientist can hook up with a molecular biologist: by blinding her with science. When Elliot builds a computer program to help Molly with her research project, the variables in their evolving relationship shift as rapidly as the terms of their experiment. "Completeness" will be presented, fully staged, on The Playhouse Mainstage, Feb. 1-17, 2013.

The Playhouse's play reading series is held one night each month on the new stage in the theatre's upper lobby. Actors read from scripts; there are no costumes or scenery pieces. The goal of this new project is to offer audiences and volunteers an opportunity to familiarize themselves with upcoming productions, as well as offer insight into new scripts and possible titles to be mounted in the future.

Upcoming script reading presentations include "Goldfish" by John Kolvenbach on June 4 and "Cadillac" by Bill Jepsen on July 2.

The Playhouse is Iowa's oldest and largest producing theatre. Located at the 42nd Street exit of I-235, the theatre has presented a full season of shows since 1919 and also offers a wide variety of educational experiences including classes for ages 4 to adult, theatre trips to New York, and volunteer opportunities onstage and backstage.
