Civic Center Of Greater Des Moines Announces Summer Theater Camps

The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines announced today registration is now open for two youth summer camp opportunities. The camps are designed to provide participants ranging in age from 6-18 with unique and lasting theater experiences facilitated by professional artists. Camp registrations are open now online at CivicCenter.org.

THEATER CAMP: PINOCCHIO
July 11-15, 2011 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday to Friday) and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday
Ages 6-18

This weeklong day camp invites young artists to explore their talents and skills as musical theater actors in a full-scale, professionally supported production. Morning workshops are devoted to development of acting skills, building understanding of theater, and participating in related artistic experiences. Afternoon sessions are dedicated to rehearsals of PINOCCHIO with Missoula Children's Theatre directors. Each camp participant is guaranteed a role -assigned on the first day through an audition process - and the week culminates with the performance on the Civic Center's Main Stage. No previous experience necessary.

Fee includes all camp activities, lunch, and snack each day.

Fee: $250 // $225 for Civic Center Members
Before and After Care: Available for an additional $5 per session


THEATER CAMP: THE TORTOISE VERSUS THE HARE
July 25-29, 2011 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (Monday through Thursday) and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. (Friday)
Ages 6-18

This weeklong day camp invites young artists to explore their talents and skills as musical theater actors in a full-scale, professionally supported production. Morning workshops are devoted to development of acting skills, building understanding of theater, and participating in related artistic experiences. Afternoon sessions are dedicated to rehearsals of THE TORTOISE VERSUS THE HARE with Missoula Children's Theatre directors. Each camp participant is guaranteed a role - assigned on the first day through an audition process - and the week culminates with the performance on the Civic Center's Main Stage. A limited number of scholarships to either camp will be available based on need.

The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines
The Civic Center of Greater Des Moines is a private not-for-profit corporation celebrating over 30 years of presenting the performing arts to Iowa and the surrounding states.
