City Circle Acting Company of Coralville is partnering with the Coralville Community Food Pantry to focus a Spotlight on Hunger during its 20th anniversary season. "Food insecurity is a pressing problem in Coralville," explains Whitney Russell, City Circle Board member. "Through our Spotlight on Hunger campaign we hope to raise community awareness and give everyone who attends our shows, the chance to help."

Spotlight on Hunger kicks off with City Circle's holiday show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in December and continues for the remainder of the season ending with their annual teen show in June.

At each performance, City Circle will be collecting food and monetary donations. Those who donate will be entered in a drawing for free tickets to upcoming shows and the winners will be announced prior to each performance. "Our goal is to donate 3,000 pounds of food to the pantry by season end," said Russell, "so we hope everyone who attends a City Circle show, will participate and help us focus the spotlight on hunger."

City Circle Acting Company is the resident theatre company of the Coralville Center for the Performing Arts. The Coralville Community Food Pantry had over 8,500 visits and distributed 250,000 pounds of food in 2016.
