In the aftermath of 9/11, a New York City fire captain struggles to prepare eulogies for many of his men who died on that terrible day. He talks about these men--who they were, why they were firefighters, and what they meant to him and the community-with a writer who has volunteered to help him fashion the stories to be told at the memorial services, and the two embark on a journey of friendship, tango, and enduring humanity.
