The Ghetto Shaman: That Which Lurks in the Shadows is a solo performance that explores identity and autonomy through a psychosomatic lens. Created and performed by Ja'Moon, the piece reveals the internal struggles of a tormented psyche, showcasing the connection between body and mind. Utilizing a blend of ritualistic shapeshifting and evocative music, the work invites audiences on a journey to uncover the shadows that affect the self. The production features the music of Murcof and Steve Reich, arranged by Ja'Moon, along with insights from theatrical consultants Alessandra Seutin, Wesley Ruzibiza, and Wanjiru Kamuyu.
