Stapleton MCA and The Aurora Fox present the musical Once on This Island
Stapleton MCA and The Aurora Fox will present the musical Once on This Island (with a book and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens and music by Stephen Flaherty) June 1 , 2, 8 and 9 at 6 p.m. as part of Stapleton’s ongoing Theatre on the Green series on the lawn at Founder’s Green (just east of Quebec on 29th). Admission is free.
This calypso-flavored re-telling of The Little Mermaid written by the same team that wrote Ragtime and Seussical, tells the story of two different societies on a Caribbean island. One poor, one rich. In almost non-stop song and dance, the show tells the story of Ti Moune, a peasant girl, who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death.
Suitable for all ages, and admission is FREE. Pack a picnic, grab the kids and a blanket and head on over to Stapleton’s outdoor theatre where you’ll be moved to “Dance”. Located just East of 29th and Quebec on the Green. No reservations necessary.
