Rude Frenchmen, cancan dancers, the Lady of the Lake and her Laker Girls, Killer rabbits, catapulting cows, and the somewhat odd Knights Who Say "Ni" are just part of the adventures and dangers awaiting King Arthur and his Knights of the very very very round table in their quest for the Holy Grail in Monty Python’s Spamalot, playing at the Breckenridge Backstage Theatre form June 15 thru July 21.
Lovingly ripped off from the motion picture, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Spamalot is the irreverent musical parody of the Arthurian legend making its return visit to Breckenridge after a sold-out run in 2014. The original Broadway production, directed by Mike Nichols and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw, was nominated for 14 Tony Awards, winning three, including Best New Musical. During its initial run, it was seen by more than two million people.
Directed by Robert Michael Sanders (BBT’s The Producers) and choreographed by Piper Arpan (original Broadway tour of Spamalot), the quest for the Grail is led by King Arthur (Scott McLean), with his trusty servant Patsy (Eli Stewart). Playing his gallant knights - and a broad assortment of other characters - are Nick Johnson as Sir Lancelot the Homicidally Brave, Mark Middlebrooks as Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot, Barret Harper as Sir Galahad the Dashingly Handsome, Brian Trampler as Sir Bedevere the Strangely Flatulent, and Leiney Rigg as The Lady of the Lake. The supporting cast includes Benji Billman, Lindsay Blackmon, Chelley Canales, Cody Ceniti, Jose David Ben Fowler, Lindsay Fuller, Steph Holmbo, and Erik Petersen.
