square product theatre finishes its 9th Season with the World Premiere of Ham McBeth, Ham McBeth will be presented in the East Theater at the Dairy Center for the Arts in Boulder, tonight, March 5-21, 2015.

Ham McBeth, an ensemble-created comedy, juxtaposes Shakespeare's legendary tragedy with trailer park politics and intrigue in a hilarious exploration of mother-daughter relationships, the inherent absurdity of the human condition, and the ways in which absolute power corrupts absolutely.

Set in a colorful trailer park, Ham McBeth follows trailer park resident, single mother and Stevie Nicks devotee, Ham Jones, and her rebellious, teenage daughter, Aquanetta, who is studying Shakespeare's Macbeth in preparation for the SATs. Aquanetta, whose goth-teen moodiness awkwardly masks a sensitivity beyond her years, harbors a not-so-secret obsession with Game of Thrones, and a hidden desire to become a classical actress. As preparations for the exam intensify, Ham has bloody visions of usurping Christa, the bossy trailer park supervisor (or at the very least, to epically TP her yard after a couple of Bartles & Jaymes wine coolers). Will Ham realize her dream of becoming the benevolent dictator of her trailer park, and to what lengths will she go to achieve this vision? Will Aquanetta manage to escape the trailer park of her youth via the classics, or will she fulfill her mother's worst fears - a starring role on MTV's "Teen Mom"? Is this a dagger which I see before me? These questions and more may or may not be answered in what promises to be a comedy of regular if not epic proportions.

"Ham McBeth emerged from a collaboration we did a few years back with the Boulder International Fringe Festival," said square product Producing Artistic Director Emily K. Harrison. "We haven't made a piece as an ensemble in this way for several years, so we're excited to be back in the studio with some of the region's most talented artists creating what will certainly be a very funny, screwball adventure," Harrison said. Harrison went on to say, "One of the fun features of this show is that we'll have a different actor playing the character of Christa, the trailer park supervisor, each weekend. Joan Brummer-Holden will play the role opening weekend, and Buntport Theater Company members Erin Rollman and Hannah Duggan will take on the role the second and closing weekend, respectively. Each of these hilarious actors will bring their own unique talents to the role, meaning that the show will change from week to week."
