The WYNOT Radio Theatre troupe is back at the FAC for a unique three-week run. Each week will feature a completely different script - obviously, a cheap ploy to get fans to come back week after week to enjoy multiple episodes. Fortunately, audiences will find tremendous laughs in each show.
For 13, the zany cast of WYNOT has been spoofing the Golden Age of radio, a time when men were men, dames had moxie and the sound of adventure filled the airwaves. They mix nostalgia with in-your-face comedy to create a funny, fast paced and wildly entertaining evening of theatre. Presented as a "live" broadcast, the shows put you "in the studio," with the cast as they present this 1940-something variety show that includes the "Rick Luger: Private Dick" series onstage in all its old-time-radio glory!
Each "episode" includes official sponsors (fake products that parody the commercial sponsors of the classic radio broadcasts), an on-going short serial show as well as a game show segment, audience participation and more characters (90+) and props (200+) than you can shake a mic at.
The cast includes: Cory Moosman, Sammy Gleason, Casiena Raether, Jonathan Eberhardt and Taylor Cardinal
Here's the line-up for the shows, which run Dec. 11-28 (8p Thurs-Sat, 3p Sun) on the Second Stage of the FAC:
Week One (December 11-14)
"DEATH WORE ELEVATOR SHOES"
WYNOT presents the very first adventure of Rick Luger: Private Dick. In this homage to the great radio noir detectives of the 1940s, Rick Luger sets out to find a fiendish killer with a questionable motive. A sultry dame, shady stock characters and a vertically challenging ending, it's a spoof of old-time radio at its funniest!
Week Two (December 18-21)
"IT CAME UPON A MIDNIGHT DEADLY"
Just in time for the holidays, 1940-something radio detective Rick Luger finds himself mixed up in the high-stakes world of Shetland pony racing. He must protect the honors of a dame, a midget horse and a stuffed bulldog named Petunia...no matter the cost.
Week Three (December 26-28)
"THE SMOKING GUN AFFAIR"
Rick Luger returns in this send-up of "The Maltese Falcon." This time around, the 1940-something radio detective is in search of a mystical golden bird that promises fame, fortune and a secret recipe thought to be lost to antiquity! No danger is too "dangery" for our hero! It's adventure with a capital "3"!
Tickets are $20, available at csfineartscenter.org or the box office, 719-634-5583.
