Theatre Aspen announced today a new partnership with the Wheeler Opera House that will launch with a special concert featuring Broadway, television and recording star Susan Egan. The concert takes place Sunday, March 6th, at 8 pm. Tickets are available at aspenshowtix.com and are priced at $55.

With the popularity of Glee, American Idol and Hollywood's latest musical blockbusters ... Broadway has reached a new Golden Era of industry dominance. And now, Susan Egan, one of Broadway's and Disney's most celebrated performers, is bringing it all together into one concert. With her award-winning acting chops, her riotous humor, and a voice that critics have dubbed the "perfect Broadway instrument," Susan takes you on a journey from Belle to babies and beyond, with hilarious personal anecdotes that rival any top-rated reality show!

Egan is a critics' darling, with New York Magazine reporting "Susan Egan is divine," the New York Post calling her "electrifying," and the Associated Press saying, "[Her] powerhouse voice will change the way you hear [these songs] from now on."

This is the first musical concert co-production Theatre Aspen has entered into with the Wheeler, with hopes to bring more Broadway entertainment to the valley each season. Musical director is Christopher McGovern. Theatre Aspen Artistic Director Paige Price will make a guest appearance with Egan.

Theatre Aspen recently announced its 2016 lineup, which includes the regional premiere of Mamma Mia! (book by Catherine Johnson, music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus, and some songs with Stig Anderson), Jonathan Tolins' one-man comedy Buyer and Cellar and the musical Dear Edwina, (book and lyrics by Marcy Heisler and music by Zina Goldrich).

Theatre Aspen's new Aspen Theatre Festival also continues this summer, featuring new plays and musicals being developed for the stage. The festival lineup will be announced in the spring.

All productions take place in the Hurst Theatre in Rio Grande Park and will be underwritten by season sponsor ANB Bank, with the generous support of Franklin and Barbara Carson, Jessica and John Fullerton, Soledad and Bob Hurst, Nancy Wall and Chuck Wall, Jim and Brenda Grusecki, Darlynn and Tom Fellman, Melanie Sturm and Marc Zachary, the City of Aspen, Les Dames d'Aspen, Actors' Equity Association, Colorado Creative Industries and The Aspen Club and Spa.

Media sponsors include the Aspen Times, Aspen Daily News, Sopris Sun, Aspen Sojourner, Aspen Magazine, Aspen Peak, Aspen Public Radio, KSPN/KNFO.
