The Fine Arts Center Theatre Company presents the Tony Award-winning "Best Musical," Crazy For You, from May 7-30 at the SaG?Ji Theatre.

With music and lyrics by George and Ira Gershwin and a book by Ken Ludwig (Lend Me A Tenor), this high-energy musical comedy is filled with mistaken identity, plot twists, fabulous dance numbers, and memorable tunes, including I Got Rhythm, They Can't Take That Away from Me, Nice Work if You Can Get It, Embraceable You, and Someone to Watch Over Me. The story follows the adventures of a stage-struck New York City playboy, Bobby Child, set in a 1930s Nevada mining town. The Wild West never seemed so wild as tap-dancing cowboys and beautiful join forces to create show-biz magic.

Crazy For You, an adaptation of the 1930 Gershwin hit, Girl Crazy, played for 1,622 performances on Broadway and earned the Tony, Olivier and Helen Hayes Awards for Best Musical of the Year in 1992.

Crazy For You is directed by Tim Muldrew, the FAC's Assistant Director of Performing Arts. This is his first directing project since moving to Colorado Springs in 2005 to become the Company Manager for the Colorado Festival of World Theatre. His past directing experience includes The Weir, Six Degrees of Separation, Two By Two, Oklahoma, Bye! Bye! Birdie, You Should Be So Lucky, and Side Man. Muldrew also worked as an Equity Stage Manager in Los Angeles on productions of Oliver!, Sophisticated Ladies, Annie Get Your Gun, Cinderella, Twice Upon A Time (World Premiere) and the L.A. Ovation Award winning Miss Saigon.

"Audiences will go 'crazy' for Crazy For You," said Muldrew. "I mean how could they not? It's got everything ... a hilarious fast-paced plot, dazzling tap numbers and one of the most brilliant scores ever. This Gershwin classic is a shining example of the BIG American Musical that the entire family will enjoy."

The cast features seven actors making their FAC Theatre Company debuts and there are several notable cast members making a return to the SaG?Ji stage, including Colorado Springs favorite, Amy Sue Hardy.

In 2006, the Denver Post nominated Hardy for Best Actress in a Musical in the FACTC production of Pirates of Penzance. Her portrayal of Roxie Hart in Chicago at the FAC earned her The Gazette's Best Performance in a Musical Award.

Denver-born Broadway veteran Michael E. Gold also returns. Gold played Harold Hill in the FACTC production of The Music Man last spring. He appeared on Broadway as Roster in Annie. He was in the National touring companies of Annie and Oklahama! Local audiences may remember him from his performance as the emcee in Arvada Center's 2007 production of La Cage aux Follies, which earned him a Henry Award for "Outstanding Actor in a Musical" and a Denver Post Ovation Award for "Best Actor, Musical."

Former FAC Director of Performing Arts, Sandy Womochil Bray returns to the FAC stage where she directed the Denver Post Ovation Award winning musical Pirates of Penzance. She is currently a Creative Dramatics instructor at The Colorado Springs School. Longtime FAC choreographer Mary Ripper Baker will be on stage performing - after a five-year break - adapting the original Broadway choreography of Susan Stroman.
