Boulder Weekly Film Series and Z2 Entertainment are proud to present "Sunshine Daydream" and Shakedown Street at the Boulder Theater on Friday, February 7th, 2014 at 7:00pm (21+). There will be a Q&A by "Sunshine Daydream" film producer, Sam Field, followed by a screening of the legendary Grateful Dead film, topped off with a reenactment of the same show with Colorado's own Shakedown Street!
On August 27, 1972, fresh off their now-legendary European tour, the Grateful Dead traveled to Veneta, Oregon and reunited with the Merry Pranksters for a common cause - to throw a benefit concert for the Kesey family's Springfield Creamery. A stage was erected under the hot Oregon sun at the Olde Renaissance Fairgrounds, tickets were printed on the fronts of the Creamery's yogurt labels, and the rest is history... The movie "Sunshine Daydream" captures this legendary day on film.
One of the longest running Grateful Dead tribute bands in the world, Shakedown Street, makes its home in and around the Rocky Mountain region of North America. The band is comprised of Josh Rosen (Lead Guitar and Vocals), Smokey Joe Weisiger (Keyboards/Organ and Vocals), Edwin Hurwitz (Bass), Scott Swartz (Rhythm Guitar and Vocals) and Christian Teele (Drums and Percussion). Shakedown Street has gained its fame by embodying the Grateful Dead ethos of improvisation and discovery, while maintaining an intimacy and open repertoire with its audience.
Event tickets will go on sale to the public on Friday, January 10th at 10:00 AM for $15 general admission. You can purchase them online at http://www.bouldertheater.com or call the box office at (303) 786-7030.
