Curious Theatre Company proudly announces the 17th season, and commits to expanding the scope of its fearless and thought-provoking onstage work for Denver audiences.

Over the course of twelve months-and two seasons-Curious will produce 2013 MacArthur Fellow Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brother/Sister Plays, a trilogy made up of In the Red and Brown Water, The Brothers Size, and Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet. Curious Theatre Company is only the fifth professional theatre in the nation to undertake the entire play cycle. All three Curious productions of The Brother/Sister Plays will feature Curious Artistic Company Members Laurence Curry, and Cajardo Lindsey, with Damion Hoover. The creative team behind The Brothers Size will also return, to design the trilogy. In the Red and Brown Water will be part of the 2014/15 Season subscription package; a limited engagement of The Brothers Size will be offered as a subscription add-on, and Marcus; Or the Secret of Sweet will be included in the 2015/16 Season.

In addition, Season 17 marks the return of Colorado native and Obie Award-winner Martin Moran, appearing in his award-winning one-man show All the Rage. Best-known in New York for his role in Broadway's Spamalot, Moran also wrote and starred in Curious' 2004 production of The Tricky Part. Subscribers can choose from select performance dates of The Tricky Part and add these onto their subscription package.

This season also features Detroit, Lisa D'Amour's 2013 Obie Award-winner for Best New American Play, which cunningly unravels the American dream through its portrayal of characters who desire nothing more than to burn down a system that betrayed them. With its engrossing characters and complex design challenges, Detroit is a perfect vehicle for Curious' Artistic Company members.

Continuing its dedication to new work, Curious will participate in the National New Play Network Rolling World Premiere of Lucky Me. The National New Play Network created the Continued Life of New Plays Fund (CLNPF) to develop an alternative-producing model, changing the way theaters and audiences understand the term "world premiere." A flagship program, CLNPF supports three or more theaters that choose to mount the same new play within a twelve-month period. The result is a "Rolling World Premiere" through which the playwright develops a new work with at least three different creative teams, for threedifferent communities of patrons, ensuring the resulting play is of the highest possible quality. And, with a minimum of three productions in a single year, the play attains the momentum it needs to join the repertoire of frequently produced new American works.

"Our 17th Season is an exciting beginning to the next evolution of our artistic work here at Curious," says Producing Artistic Director Chip Walton. "As Artistic Director, I have a vision of expanding our palette of work, and this season clearly represents our commitment to that growth. The Brother/Sister Plays are exactly the type of unique theatrical experience that we want audiences to recognize us for and appreciate. I am also looking forward to the 2014/15 season because of this stellar collection of upcoming plays: each takes us on a theatrical journey that explores the resiliency of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming adversity-a bedrock of great storytelling throughout the ages, but in these plays it is rooted so vividly in our modern world. This is a season of theatre that asks us all to dig deeper and take risks, and feature plays that you won't see anywhere else in Colorado."

ALL THE RAGE
With select weekly performances of The Tricky Part
Written and Performed by Martin Moran
Directed by Seth Barrish
September 6 - September 28, 2014

Broadway veteran and Colorado native Martin Moran wrote and starred in Curious' acclaimed 2004 production of The Tricky Part. During the run of that show, he was asked this question: where was the anger over his boyhood trauma? All the Rage is a globetrotting quest for the answer, spanning from Manhattan to the Rockies to Johannesburg, South Africa. The people Moran meets along the way-his estranged stepmother, a guide who can't read maps, and an African refugee seeking asylum in the US-help him as he charts his own course through rage and compassion.

Crafted with disarming humor and candor, The Tricky Part is a riveting coming-of-age through the eyes of one boy who was forced to confront religion, sexuality, and human trespass. It is a universal tale of how we're all bombarded with choices between good and evil, and of how tricky it can be to choose. Presented as a limited weekly engagement, The Tricky Part is a chance to experience the first of Martin Moran's award-winning one-man shows.
