Stapleton MCA and The Aurora Fox will present Hairspray - the Musical (with book by Mark O'Donnell and Thomas Meehan, music by Music by Marc Shaiman and Lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman based on the New Line Cinema film written and directed by John Water,) May 31, June 1, 7 and 8 at 7 p.m. as part of Stapleton's ongoing Theatre on the Green series on the lawn at Founder's Green (just east of Quebec on 29th). Admission is free.

Winner of 8 Tony Awards including Best Musical, Hairspray is a family-friendly musical piled high with laughter, romance, and deliriously tuneful songs. It's 1962 in Baltimore, and the lovable plus-size teen Tracy Turnblad (Terra Salazar) has only one desire -- to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true, Tracy is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She uses her newfound power to dethrone the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and fight segregation on a TV network, all without mussing her 'do!

Suitable for all ages, and admission is FREE. Pack a picnic, grab the kids and a blanket and head on over to Stapleton's outdoor theatre where you'll be moved to dance along. Located just East of 29th and Quebec on the lawn. No reservations necessary.

Hairspray is directed and choreographed by Piper Lindsay Arpan with Music Direction by Benjamin Wood, Scenic Design by Charles Packard, Costume Design by Sharon McLaury, Sound Design by Curt Behm, Properties by Ellen Sandlian, and Stage Management by Jordon Brockman.
