Bovine Metropolis Theater goes down the social media rabbit hole with their new comedy show this summer. Today everything is crowdsourced; Uber, AirBnB, where to eat lunch, and now the name of the newest sketch show at Bovine Metropolis Theater. Sketch writing at the Bovine is a collaborative process where writers come together to pitch scripts that everyone builds upon the funny nugget. This collaborative mindset was transported online to Facebook Live to discover the name of their 42nd original sketch comedy.

This June, Bovine Metropolis Theater presents We Used Facebook Live to Name This Sketch Show a comedy production that bristles with as much quirkiness and individuality as Facebook and Twitter combined.

"The name was so meta that it appealed to all of us in the room. We loved creating fun and catchy show titles for previous Bovine sketch shows like The Generation X Files, Real Housewives of the North Pole, Elfie Schtick to name a few," according to Eric Farone, Executive Director at Bovine Metropolis Theater, "this round we elected to crowdsource the title. We have hundreds of home grown improvisers and students who have gone on to live and perform improv in other cities like Chicago, L.A. and New York. They are on Facebook so why not have those alumni help us name our show?"

Featuring original sketches and music, We Used Facebook Live to Name This Sketch Show is as fast paced as ever reflecting today's high-speed download world. Racing from sketch, to song and then to quick one-joke scenes, this comedy barely allows you to catch your breath between laughs.

The show's team of 18 writers, almost all of whom are graduates of the Bovine School of Improv, has been given an unprecedented level of control and collective ownership over their sketches.

"Everyone respects each other's work and everyone's opinions, so it's a much less competitive environment because you truly feel supported," As writer and performer Brittany Lee puts it, "each writer has such a different and interesting perspective that it helps make your original idea richer as a whole piece."

Other great names were submitted by Bovinians from all over the country. Coloradon't Move Here (Chicago) was a bit negative and impossible to say. Bovine Intervention (New York) was too vague. Dumb-ster fire (Philadelphia) was too political. Alexa, Hold my Beer (Denver) was in the running right until the end. Looking Back, 2016 wasn't that bad. (L.A.) was dark and a bit too true. Finally The Top 7 Reasons to put Sunscreen on Your Dog, #5 Will Blow Your Mind! (Austin) looked better online than in print. All these names were unique and creative and it was great to reconnect with our Bovine family that has gone off to make the world a funnier place.

Bring your flip flops, order an iced tea from the concession stand, and hold onto your seat as you watch the hilarious and turbo-paced summer sketch show.

We Used Facebook Live to Name This Sketch Show plays Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. and Friday and Saturday nights at 10:15 p.m. starting June 1st and running through June 29th. Tickets are $12 online and $14 at the door. All shows are for all ages. Bovine Metropolis Theater is located at 1527 Champa Street in the heart of the Denver Theatre District.

Established in 1996, Bovine Metropolis Theater is the first dedicated school and theater for improvisation in the Rocky Mountain region. The Bovine uses improvisation to create exceptional ensembles for life, business and the stage.
