Reed Weimer and his band, The Flat Out Five, will be presenting "History Lessons" on Sunday, August 21 at 7:00 p.m. at The Bug Theatre at 3654 Navajo Street in Denver. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.
Reed Weimer and The Flat Out Five present "History Lessons," a new album featuring 10 songs that tell the stories of 10 paintings based on family stories and characters. "History Lessons" will present a unique music experience featuring tales of different types of people and even the objects they've owned. It's a bit like they're ghost stories, sometimes dealing with loss or regret, but also with hope and humor. Chances are you might recognize something or someone from your own family history. Reed Weimer and his band, The Flat Out Five, will share these stories, songs and images on the stage of the Bug Theatre for one very special night.
Reed Weimer is a musician and artist who has been and working in Denver since 1981. He has shown his art in the North Denver co-ops including Pirate, Edge and Core. Reed, along with his wife Chandler Romeo, started Zip 37 Gallery and opened the Bug Theater and he recently had work in the Art of the State show at the Arvada Center for the Arts and Humanities. Reed has played in several Denver bands including Learn to Fish, Mean Uncle Mike and Moe Perdue. Now, with his new band, The Flat Out Five, he plays original Progressive-Americana and they are proud to be part of the "Denver Sound!"
"Working as both a visual artist and musician, I cross back and forth between mediums with my ideas. With 'History Lessons' the connection is directly expressed with songs explaining paintings and paintings illustrating songs," offers Weimer.
