Denver Center for the Performing Arts announces the 2016 recipients for The Bobby G Awards, a regional awards program for The National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Charlotte Movizzoand Curtis Salinger, the 2016 Bobby G Award recipients of the Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role and Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role, progress to represent Colorado atThe National High School Musical Theatre Awards. Charlotte Movizzo played Charity Hope Valentine in Ponderosa High School's production of Sweet Charity. Curtis Salinger played Emmett Forrest in Durango High School's production of Legally Blonde.

Presented by The Broadway League Foundation, the eight annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards take place on Monday, June 27 at the Minskoff Theatre on Broadway. Coaching and rehearsal for this one-of-a-kind event are held Sunday, June 19 through Monday, June 27 in New York City.
The Bobby G Awards ceremony, held on May 26 at 7pm at The Buell Theatre, included performances from the shows nominated for outstanding overall production and honored outstanding achievements by students and educators made in the areas of performance, design, direction, choreography, technical production and overall production excellence. Forty public and private high schools in Colorado participated this season.
