SHANA CORDON: PERFORMER, WRITER, PRODUCER. Shana is a performer, director, playwright and educator. She has extensive experience in performance, bridging the world of classical text-based theater, physical theater, and dance. She earned an MFA in Contemporary Theater from Naropa University, and she has studied at Seattle's Freehold Theater Studio/Lab, The
American Conservatory Theater, and with such illustrious teachers as Giovanni Fusetti, Moises Kauffman and
Tectonic Theater Project, Meridith Monk, and the
Siti Company.
Local acting credits include Lili in Why We Have a Body (Square Product Theater), Athena in The Odyssey (Now or Never Theater), and Anita in Wrong Turn at Lungfish (Theater 13), for which she was nominated Best Actress by the Boulder Daily Camera for her "vulnerability" and "overall sassy charm." As a director and playwright, Shana has created numerous shows, including Lull and A Brief History of Intercourse, which was highlighted by Denver's Westword, The Denver Post and Boulder Daily Camera as a must-see in the 2008 Boulder International Fringe Festival. In 2007, she co-directed G
Emma Wilcox's award-winning show Shadows in Bloom.
Shana teaches voice for actors at Red Rocks Community College and physical theater at the Boulder Ballet School. She is Boulder Ballet's Marketing Director and its Director of Outreach, through which she has taught theater and movement to thousands of students throughout Colorado. Shana recently formed Oculus Theater to produce original theatrical work in Boulder. For more information, visit
