In an artistic response to the current political climate, It Grows Wild, a theatre company is pleased to present their inaugural production, The Vagina Monologues by Eve Ensler.
An Obie Award-winning whirlwind tour of a forbidden zone, The Vagina Monologues introduces a wildly divergent gathering of female voices, including a six-year-old girl, a septuagenarian New Yorker, a vagina workshop participant, a woman who witnesses the birth of her granddaughter, and a feminist happy to have found a man who "liked to look at it."
The show has one more performance tonight (Saturday, November 3) at 7:30pm at The People's Building (9995 East Colfax Avenue, Aurora). Doors open at 7pm and all seating is general admission.
The Vagina Monologues is directed by Robin B. Zavala and features the talents of: Leanne Jewell, Lisa Young, Kristen Samu, Dia Kline, Shelby Taylor, Melissa Strand Fike, Emily Gerhard, Joan Harrold and Miriam Suzanne.
This is a BENEFIT PRODUCTION for the Colorado Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Learn more about their mission at CCASA.org.
"The purpose of this production is to give a voice to the hundreds of women in our community who have been triggered, frustrated, infuriated, and affected by the recent current events." says Director Zavala. "We want to represent all women in our community. We want to talk about sexual assault from our point of view. We want to praise the power of women. Our ability to thrive, give birth, laugh, and love. We want to celebrate our legacy. We want to take back what is rightfully ours: Our Experience. Our Bodies. Our Rights. Our Voice."
"The Vagina Monologues manifest the power of women telling their truths, one story at a time, and the people who believe them." - Dia Kline, Cast Member
