On Tuesday evening, June 9th, Chazz Palminteri's "A Bronx Tale" and the touring production of "RENT" opened at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts. But before the curtain went up on these two shows another show was going on! The group Denver Freeze staged their first event as patrons were arriving at the Center. For approximately 5 minutes the group froze in various positions in front of the Buell Theater to the surprise of patrons who took pictures, tried to talk to the "frozen" people and in one case tried to help one of the members thinking she was sick as she was stooped on the ground. They even called security to help her!
Once the freeze thawed patrons took in the two shows and then it was off to the combined opening night party at Limelight Supper Club & Lounge across from the Buell Theater. The cast members of both shows attended along with DCPA staff and local celebrities.
Nothing but wonderful things were said about both productions. I attended A Bronx Tale and enjoyed it immensely. A must see. Mr. Palminteri has you in the palm of his hand from the first moments of the show right up until its beautiful ending.
RENT will only be rocking the Buell Theater until June 14h. A Bronx Tale will be at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House thru June 21st. Tickets can be purchased online or at the box office.
