Last week, Paragon Theatre hosted an exciting preview of it's 10th season. When asked about the theme or drive for this new season, Executive Director Michael Stricker replied, "We wanted to do shows that scared the hell out of us...we really wanted to be challenged this season." Here is what's in store...

Paragon kicks off 2011 with the regional premiere of Neil LaBute's latest bristling comedy, reasons to be pretty. In LaBute's self-described "coming-of-age story," four friends are forced to confront the reality of their relationships when one of them makes an offhand remark about his girlfriend's appearance. A love story about insecurity, cruelty and vanity, reasons to be pretty asks whether beauty really is only skin-deep.

reasons to be pretty runs from January 29th to February 26th.

In May, Paragon will stage a challenging new drama, The Pride, by British rising star, Alexi Kaye Campbell. Oliver, Philip and Sylvia are caught up in a potent love triangle that spans decades of time. Jumping from 1958 London to the present and back again, The Pride drives three British characters up against social and personal assumptions about sexuality and friendship. As loyalties are questioned and passions revealed, each of them discovers what it means to be proud of who they are.

The Pride run from May 7th to June 4th.

Next up is Sam Shepard's epic American classic, A Lie of The Mind. After a severe incident of spousal abuse tears Jake and Beth apart, their two families hole up to await the backlash. Set in rural California and Montana, Shepard's classic, road-worn characters become caught up in a deranged and piercing fable that explores familial dysfunction, loyalty and the nature of love.

A Lie of the Mind runs from July 16th to August 13th.

Finally, Paragon will present Harold Pinter's masterpiece, Betrayal. In 1977, London, Emma and Jerry meet after their affair has ended. With each scene, we are taken further back in time, witnessing deceptions and ecstasies now imbued with knowledge of what is to come. Harold Pinter's Betrayal is a study in the choices we make and how they affect the paths of our lives.

Betrayal runs from October 1st to October 29th.
