Opera Colorado Seeks Volunteers To Perform In THE MARRIAGE OF FIGARO As Supernumeraries/Extras Image

Opera Colorado invites members of the community to apply for a non-singing supernumerary role in its upcoming season-closing production of Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro. A supernumerary (usually referred to as a "super") contributes their time and talent to the production by acting in a non-speaking/non-singing role, similar to being an extra in a movie.

For this production, Opera Colorado seeks three men to act as servants in the household of the Count and Countess Almaviva.

Casting Requirements:

  • Men, with an approximate age of 20s-40s
  • Height of 5'8" or taller
  • Able to take direction quickly
  • Able to move/walk with precision
  • Able to lift/carry up to 40lbs (supers will assist with light scenery changes, such as moving furniture and handling props)
  • Note: These "Super Servants" will function similarly to servants in period pieces like Downton Abbey

Time Commitment:

Early staging rehearsals will take place between April 13-23 at the Opera Colorado Opera Center in Englewood, Colo. Technical rehearsals, dress rehearsals and all performances will take place on varying dates between April 26-May 12, at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House at Denver Performing Arts Complex in downtown Denver.

Compensation:

Supernumeraries are volunteer positions. All community volunteers who offer their time and talent as supernumeraries will receive:

  • Two (2) tickets to The Marriage of Figaro Final Dress Rehearsal on Thursday, May 2.
  • Parking passes for the Denver Performing Arts Complex Garage/Colorado Convention Center Garage for all days in which they are called to rehearse or perform at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House.

To express interest in the openings and for a more specific rehearsal schedule, please contact Katie Preissner, Opera Colorado Director of Production, at kpreissner@operacolorado.org with "FIGARO SUPER" in the subject line of the email. Include a photograph of yourself along with your height and a description of any stage experience you may have. No phone calls, please.

Supernumerary positions are available on a first-come basis to qualified candidates with the appropriate schedule availability.
