The New York Philharmonic will return to Colorado's Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival for its eighth annual summer residency, for six concerts, July 23-30, 2010. Alan Gilbert will conduct three concerts in Vail at the conclusion of his first season as Music Director of the Philharmonic, leading works by Beethoven, Sibelius, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninoff. The Orchestra's residence will also feature appearances by conductors Andrey Boreyko and Bramwell Tovey, as well as soloists Jonathan Biss and Alexander Gavrylyuk, piano; Nikolaj Znaider, violin; New York Philharmonic Principal Cello Carter Brey; Nicole Cabell, soprano; and Branford Marsalis, saxophone. The New York Philharmonic has performed at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival
each summer since 2003.

"The chemistry between Alan Gilbert and the musicians of the New York Philharmonic has created a palpable enthusiasm with our audiences around the world, which we are looking forward to sharing with our listeners at the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival," said President and Executive Director Zarin Mehta. "The Orchestra enjoys returning to what has become a summer home away from home, where we are able to renew our friendships with our behind-the-scenes colleagues as well as the wonderful enthusiasm of the Vail audiences."

"It is with great pleasure that during its 23rd season the Bravo! Festival will again host the esteemed New York Philharmonic as a resident orchestra," said Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival Executive Director John Giovando. "The summer of 2010 will mark the Orchestra's eighth year in Vail and indeed, Vail loves New York!" Eugenia Zuckerman, Festival Artistic Director, said "Bravo! is delighted that the New York Philharmonic will be back in July 2010 for its eighth residency at the Festival. The programs are exciting and the performances will surely be superb. The orchestra members are now firmly part of the Bravo! family. Welcome home!"

Music Director Alan Gilbert returns to Vail for this third consecutive summer and will launch the Philharmonic's 2010 residency with an opening night concert on July 23, 2010, featuring Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 4, with Jonathan Biss as soloist, and Sibelius's Symphony No. 2. On July 24, Mr. Gilbert will lead Mozart's Symphony No. 25; Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, with Nikolaj Znaider; Schubert's Symphony in B minor, Unfinished; and Wagner's Prelude and Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde. Mr. Gilbert's final Vail concert, on July 25, will feature Tchaikovsky's Rococo Variations, with Philharmonic Principal Cello Carter Brey, and Rachmaninoff's Symphony No. 2 July 25. Guest conductor Bramwell Tovey returns for his sixth summer at Bravo! with the New York Philharmonic, to lead two programs: the first, on July 28, will feature selections from operas and ballets by Rossini, Mozart, Puccini, Donizetti, Massenet, and Gounod, with soprano Nicole Cabell. Andrey Boreyko will conduct the July 29 concert, which features works by Liadov and Prokofiev, with Branford Marsalis performing Glazunov's Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Schulhoff's Hot-Sonate for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra. Bramwell Tovey will lead the Philharmonic's final concert in Vail in 2010 on July 30; the program comprises Reznicek's Overture to Donna Diana; five of Brahms's Hungarian Dances; Lizst's Piano Concerto No. 1, with Alexander Gavrylyuk; Tchaikovsky's Marche slave; Dvo?ák's The Noon Witch; and Enesco's
Romanian Rhapsody No. 1.

During the 2010 residency, the Very Young Composer's of Eagle County - a joint venture of the New York Philharmonic and Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival - will present their third season of performances. The educational initiative features Young Composers, ages 9 - 13, who compose and orchestrate their own original works to be performed by musicians from the Philharmonic at Vail Valley Public Schools. This summer's performances will take place at the Vail Public Library on July 28 and Avon Public Library on July 29, both at 1:00 p.m. This program was created by Young Composers Advocate Jon Deak (formerly the Philharmonic Associate Principal Bass) in collaboration with Liz Campbell, Director of Education and Community Outreach for the Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival, and Philharmonic Director of Education Theodore Wiprud. This initiative is locally underwritten by the Joyce and Bernard West family of Vail and New York.

The Bravo! Vail Valley Music Festival celebrates its 23rd season June 25 through August 3 with a recital by Yo-Yo Ma and Kathryn Stott, and concerts by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, the National Repertory Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic and Bravo's chamber musicians.
