Firehouse Theater presents the Denver Premiere of CORONADO  playing now through March 24 at the John Hand Theater at Colorado Free University.  This modern day Greek tragedy with a sense of humor follows three intertwining tales: A boy and a girl fall in love while ransacking a rich man's house during the waning days of the Vietnam War, A compromised psychiatrist confronts the unstable patient he slept with, A father and a son wage a lethal battle of wits over the whereabouts of a stolen diamond and a missing woman.  At turns suspenseful, surreal, romantic, and tragically comic, these tales journey headlong into the heart of our national myths—about class, gender, freedom, and regeneration through violence—and reveal that the truth waiting for us there is not what we'd expect.

Under the direction of Luke Allen Terry, the cast includes Sam Gilstrap (Will), Kelly Reeves (Gina), Jesse Pearlman (The Doctor), Sarah Mae Johnson (The Patient), Paul Jaquith (Bobby), Andy Anderson (Bobby's Father), William Dale Holtom (Hal), Melinda-Catherine Gross (Gwen), and Beth Davis as The Waitress

Dennis Lehane is the author of nine novels—including the New York Times bestsellers Gone, Baby, Gone, Mystic River, Shutter Island and The Given Day—as well as Coronado, a collection of short stories and a play. Before becoming a full-time writer, Mr. Lehane worked as a counselor with mentally handicapped and abused children, waited tables, parked cars, drove limos, worked in bookstores, and loaded tractor-trailers. His one regret is that no one ever gave him a chance to tend bar.
