Miners Alley Playhouse presents "Clarence Darrow" October 30 through November 2 for three performances only on Thursday and Saturday at 7:30.p.m.; Sunday at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $23 and are available by calling 303-935-3044 or online at minersalley.com. Miners Alley Playhouse is located at 1224 Washington Avenue. Golden, CO 80401.

A one-man play in two acts based on the Clarence Darrow for the Defense by Irving Stone is a reminiscence of the unpopular cases in which the famous attorney was involved, the events of his personal life and his opinions about contemporary events.

Clarence Darrow's work in the courtroom impacted the social, political and cultural fabric of the early part of the 20th century. Fighting for labor reform, racial equality, the teaching of evolution in our public schools and challenging the death penalty were the hallmarks of a brilliant legal career.

Sandy Brook has performed this one-act play in Indiana and will begin appearing in community theaters across Colorado next year. Former Chief Judge of the Indiana Court of Appeals, Brook joined Judicial Arbiter Group, Inc. in 2004, after sixteen years on the bench in Indiana. He has had a lifelong interest in acting and the theater. Referring to acting as a "secret passion," he has studied Courtroom Theater in an unusual way -- as a trial lawyer, trial judge and trial advocacy instructor. Brook brings to life the emotion, oratory skill, and courtroom drama of an extraordinary man, Clarence Darrow, who exposed inequality and injustice by taking on society's most controversial causes.
