McNichols Civic Center Building Spring Exhibitions Showcase Colorado Photographers, Denver Fashion Week  Image

Denver Arts & Venues is pleased to announce two new art exhibitions at McNichols Civic Center Building.

Elemental Construction (Boettcher Cultural Pavilion, 2nd floor) features more than 50 photographic collages by 10 photographers. Utilizing digital and traditional materials and technologies to push the boundaries of the medium, the artworks featured in Elemental Construction challenge ideas of place, space and form.

The Best of Denver Fashion Week (3rd floor) highlights the 10-year history of Denver Fashion Week through behind-the-scenes photography and unique installations.

Both exhibitions are free and open to the public Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. through April 7.

Additional events will be hosted throughout the spring giving opportunities for visitors to go deeper into the art shows.

Opening Night Reception, Feb. 2, 6-9 p.m.: guests have an opportunity to view both exhibitions while enjoying entertainment, food and drink. FREE - RSVP.

Panel Discussion, Feb. 7, 6-8 p.m.: enjoy a lively conversation with featured Elemental Construction artists as they discuss their practice and process. FREE - RSVP.

Portfolio Review, March 23, 5:30-8 p.m.: participants can meet the Elemental Construction artists and browse the portfolios of dozens of talented photographers from around the world, in town for Month of Photography. FREE.

Marketplace Brunch, April 7: fans of Denver Fashion Week have the opportunity to meet the designers and purchase apparel featured on the runways. Ticket information and additional details to be announced.

These exhibitions are supported by Denver Arts & Venues Cultural Partner Program and presented in conjunction with Denver Fashion Week (March 23-31) and Month of Photography (March-April).

Located at the corner of Colfax Avenue and Bannock Street, the McNichols Civic Center Building opened its doors in 1909 as a Carnegie Library, a center for learning anchoring the north end of Civic Center Park. Continuing the tradition, the building was re-opened in 2012 as a contemporary hub for arts and culture for the people of Denver. Operated by Denver Arts & Venues, the McNichols Building offers new experiences in a classic space, and supports community-based programming, exhibitions and events through the Cultural Partner Program.
