As it has done for many people and businesses, big and small, the economic climate/recession has forced me to make a life altering decision.

As of last week, I am no longer the correspondent for BroadwayWorld-Denver. I am writing this final column and review from very cold and snowy Bensalem, PA. I realized that it was no longer possible to stay in Denver and had to make a move of some kind. That move happened on Friday, January 9th. The plan is to ultimately end up in New York City, soon.

For the past two years it has been a pleasure to cover theatre in Colorado. I wish I had been able to, especially in the last 6 months, cover more as Colorado has so much theater to offer. I couldn't move on without thanking some very important people in Colorado who were so instrumental in so many ways.

First, and foremost, thank you to Rob Diamond of BroadwayWorld for approving me. Rob, I hope to continue in some capacity once I reach the Big Apple. Also thank you to your staff for all of their help, especially with my frantic e-mails!

To Gloria Shanstrom with the Colorado Theatre Guild, Thank you for everything! You were a major key in getting me connected to theaters around the state that I was not familiar with. I call you the energizer bunny of e-mails as I had to stay on my toes to keep up with everything you sent out. Also thank you so much for the great conversations both in person and via e-mail. We still have a pre-show cocktail left to do!

To Peter Johnson, my very good friend and Editor in NYC, with all you do there in the city I feel honored that you have taken the time out to help edit my articles. Please know that you aren't done and I look forward to seeing you very soon!

To all of the people at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts, well, we go back a bit. Thank you for the time I Co-Chaired the African American Task Force as well as for the past few years with BWW. Randy Weeks (President and Executive Director of DCA) and Daniel Renner (Dean of Education for the National Theatre Conservatory), I think you know I pretty much worship the ground you both walk on! (Ok, maybe not worship but you know the respect I have for you). You are both responsible for my involvement with the DCPA and theatre in Colorado. I will always be thankful for that! Genevieve Miller, Heidi Bosk and Chris Wiger, what can I say? Thank you for putting up with me and giving me so much access to casts and shows. You are the best!

To those theatres that reached out to me, Crossroads, The Avenue Theatre, Mo Productions, The Central City Opera and to Janet Braccio at the Arvada Center and others, Thank you!
To the Rocky Mountain Arts Association, it has been a pleasure and thank you for being so kind to me. Continue to Defy Gravity!

Also, to all of the other members of the press that I have met over the past few years, I have enjoyed meeting you all and talking (dishing!) before and after performances.

Lastly, I would like to thank Michael Mulhern who is now the Denver Correspondent for BroadwayWorld. I am so glad you said yes. "You'll be swell. You'll be great"!

So I look at this as Act III of my life. I will miss all of you back in Denver, I will "miss the mountains", I will miss Colorado. I hope to be back to visit and maybe one day....! But until then we will always be connected by our friendships and the one thing we all love. The theatre.

Sincerely,
Greg
