Colorado Theatre Guild New Ventures Series presents a free staged reading of the new play, "Gifted" on Monday, April 12 at 7:30 p.m. at the Germinal Stage, 2450 West 44th Ave., Denver. No reservations are necessary, and an audience talk-back will follow the reading.

"Gifted," a full-length play by award-winning Denver playwright Carrie Printz, is directed by Sarah Roshan. This gentle comedy tells the story of 15-year-old Aseem and his family. Aseem isn't crazy about being gifted, nor is he thrilled about his multi-ethnic white/Indian heritage. But when he gets a chance to be on a new game/reality TV show, he just may find a way to change his life-if his family doesn't ruin his chances.

"Gifted" features Denver actors Zach Cantor, Melissa Scher, Neha Jhaveri, Anne Myers, Olen Davis, Nicolette Vajtay and Bruce Rasquinha.

Printz has received several awards for her plays, including first place in Writer's Digest's 2009 Playwriting Contest. "Gifted" received an honorable mention in the 2009 "New Works of Merit" playwriting contest, sponsored by the New York City-based Merit Theater and Film Group.
