Art imitates Life. Life imitates Art. When two actors with a history are thrown together as romantic leads in a forgotten 1930s melodrama, they quickly lose touch with reality as the story onstage follows them offstage. Stage Kiss captures
Sarah Ruhl's singular voice. It is a charming tale about what happens when lovers share a stage kiss-or when actors share a real one.
"I've always loved
Sarah Ruhl's writing, and Stage Kiss is certainly no exception. It's a hilarious comedy that also packs a lot of heart," says Director Deb Flomberg, who directed Equinox Theatre's 2012 Ruhl hit In the Next Room (or the Vibrator Play), which won two Westword Best of Denver Awards. "I'm so excited to bring this show to Denver audiences, and I'm sure they're going to fall in love with this play as quickly as I did." When asked about her favorite parts of Stage Kiss, Flomberg offers, "Well, there's not one but two plays-within-a-play here, plus it's basically a meta-love-letter to the entire acting community. What's not to love?"
Stage Kiss features the talents of: Kristine Blackport as She,
Kenneth Stellingwerf as He,
Joey Wishnia as The Director, Matthew Bausone as Kevin, Marq Del Monte as Harrison, Anneliese Farmer as Angela and Emily Ebertz as Laurie.
