Emily Zeck has joined Theatre Aspen as Managing Director. Emily returns to Theatre Aspen after stints at the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, New York Stage and Film, and Philadelphia Theatre Company.

Zeck previously served as Managing Director at Theatre Aspen from 2009 - 2013. During her tenure, she worked to bring financial stability to the organization, completed a capital campaign and construction project for the Hurst Theatre and permanent lobby, and increased ticket sales by 30%.

"We are excited to have Emily rejoin our team. Her leadership and project management skills have always been an asset to our organization, and we are confident that her return will help take us to even higher achievements" said Jed Bernstein, Producing Director of Theatre Aspen.

In the last ten years, Emily has gained additional experience in theatre administration, including launching an additional capital campaign and venue construction project, turning negative cash flow consistently positive, growing subscriber bases against national trends, commissioning new musicals, and teaching theatre management courses at University of the Arts.

Zeck expressed her enthusiasm about returning to Theatre Aspen, saying, “Over nine years ago, as soon as I followed a professional opportunity out of Colorado, I knew I wanted to come back as soon as my career would allow. To return now with a deeper appreciation of all that Aspen has to offer, to see how much Theatre Aspen is growing and thriving – and this time to be able to share it with my family - is profoundly satisfying.  I’m ecstatic to be back, and so very grateful for the opportunity and warm welcome that Jed, the board, and the staff have given me.”

Theatre Aspen looks forward to the positive impact Emily Zeck will have on our 41st season and the company's future endeavors and providing exceptional productions and educational programming to the community.

As Theatre Aspen concludes its 40th Anniversary Season in 2023, it continues to rekindle a sense of discovery in audiences who live in and visit the Roaring Fork Valley by producing big theatre in a small space with intimate storytelling. Each season, Theatre Aspen promises to bring world-class theatre dramatically closer, with innovative and imaginative productions of both plays and musicals. These productions are complemented by an assortment of community events, including cabarets, educational programs and performances, collaborations with other Aspen arts organizations, and new works presentations. Theatre Aspen also boasts an impressive Apprentice Program, one of the largest in the country, devoted to training the next generation of theatrical artists and administrators.
