Denver Theatre Company Creates Interactive Theatrical Game Show Image

After eight months of creative exercises, brainstorming, and frequent trips back to the drawing board, Pipedream Production's new, revolutionary play, #BESTYOU, is ready for an audience. Created by Pipedream's founding members and written by Pipedream's own Alexis Robbins, #BESTYOU asks the question, "how far would you go to be the best?"

Centered around three fictitious internet celebrities (think Logan Paul, Acacia Kersey, and Zoella), this theatrical game show explores the strengths and weaknesses of our dependence on technology in the 21st century--think social media, data breaches, and catfishing. Most internet moguls only show their subscribers/followers the "highlight reel," the best of their best, and we frequently idolize them for it. But is that who they truly are? What dark secrets hide behind their screens?

#BESTYOU explores all the possibilities of those whom we frequently look to for inspiration. Strongly reliant on audience participation, #BESTYOU asks the three celebrities, also known as the "Players," to compete in order to become their "best selves." The audience will help determine the winner, as the Players compete in three rounds of games--each testing a various attribute such as strength, resilience, and mental health.

Pipedream Productions, an enterprising Denver theatre company, will be producing the play set to run for 12 performances from August 9th - September 1st at the JMAC Studios White Box on the University of Denver campus. Pipedream has teamed with local musician, Erik Fellenstein, who created various musical themes that will be incorporated throughout the "game show." Tickets are $23 pre-show (online), and $25 at the door. This show is not recommended for audience members under the age of 16, due to mature themes and language.
