The Denver Center Theatre Company (DCTC) will present the Alexandre Dumas classics, THE THREE MUSKETEERS, adapted by Linda Alper, DCTC resident dramaturg Douglas Langworthy and Penny Metropulos, playing The Stage Theatre tonight, September 21 – October 21, 2012. Tickets may be purchased now, by calling 303.893.4100 or visiting www.denvercenter.org.

In this heroic adventure, young D'Artagnan comes to Paris with one goal in mind: to join the King's Musketeers. Befriended by three legendary swordsmen, he is immediately put to the test, and along the way finds love, faces temptation and thwarts evil. Loaded with dazzling sword-play, intrigue and comedy, this adaptation of Dumas' novel considers the cost of one hero's journey.

The cast of THE THREE MUSKETEERS includes: Jamison Jones (debut) as Athos, Mike Ryan (debut) as Porthos, Martin Yurek (debut) as Aramis, Ben Rosenbaum (debut) as D' Artagnan and Lawrence Hecht (To Kill a Mockingbird, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The House of the Spirits) as Captain de Treville. Playing the role of Cardinal Richelieu is John Hutton (21 seasons, World Premiere Great Wall Story, World Premiere Two Things You Don't Talk About At Dinner, To Kill a Mockingbird). Katie MacNichol (debut) plays Milady, Sofia Jean Gomez (Dracula) plays Constance and Sam Gregory (37 productions, Heartbreak House, World Premiere Two Things You Don't Talk About At Dinner, American Night: The Ballad of Juan José) plays Rochefort.

Art Manke (Great Wall Story, The 39 Steps, The Miracle Worker) returns to DCTC to direct and dance choreograph THE THREE MUSKETEERS. This adventurous production will take place on an intricate, multi-level set designed by Tom Buderwitz (The Miracle Worker, Arms and the Man, Crossfire) and cast members will be dressed in elaborate period costumes designed by B. Modern (debut) and crafted (many from scratch) by DCTC's exceptionally skilled costume shop staff. Lighting design by Charles R. MacLeod (279 productions, 29 seasons/Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash, World Premiere Two Things You Don't Talk About At Dinner) and sound design by Craig Breitenbach (Ring of Fire: The Music of Johnny Cash, A Christmas Carol, To Kill a Mockingbird) work in tandem to propel the story through visual effects and audio. Fight direction is by Gregory Hoffman (Fences, The Taming of the Shrew) who is charged with continuing the dramatic story-telling through eight fight scenes while musical composition is by Rodolfo Ortega (debut). Dramaturgy is by Douglas Langworthy (Heartbreak House, World Premiere Great Wall Story, World Premiere Two Things You Don't Talk About At Dinner) and dialect and vocal coaching is by Kathryn G. Maes, Ph. D (Fences, Heartbreak House, World Premiere Great Wall Story).
