The Denver Center for the Performing Arts (DCPA) is proud to announce that Off-Center, the unconventional line of programming at the DCPA, is seeking proposals for a new artist residency program called Powered By Off-Center. The residency provides artists with pre-production support, access to DCPA equipment and stock scenery, props and costumes, one week of fully-staffed tech time in The Jones Theatre, and up to $5,000 to make it all happen.
Colorado artists of all disciplines are invited to submit a proposal for some kind of live theatrical performance that they would like to develop. Off-Center is open to a range of different art forms and artistic experiences, but requires some kind of narrative thread (not necessarily linear or verbal) and it must culminate in a live showing with an audience. Interested parties must submit according to the guidelines outlined below by 11:59 pm on Sunday, August 12.
"We are excited to offer the local artistic community a new space to play and a platform to experiment," said Charlie Miller, Off-Center Curator. "Our goal is to power your creative ideas, giving you the opportunity and resources to try something new. In March and April 2019, we will pilot this program with two separate residencies. We hope this investment in the local artistic community can help inspire new ideas, build new creative partnerships, and support Colorado's vibrant artistic ecosystem."
Powered by Off-Center marks Off-Center's second open call for submissions this year. Off-Center received 213 short play submissions from 101 Colorado zip codes for Bite Size: An Evening of Micro Theatre which will be presented this fall at BookBar.
Please visit http://dcpa.today/poweredby for more information about the Powered By Off-Center residencies and application process. We encourage all interested artists to carefully read the call for proposals and our FAQs before submitting proposals here.

As the most unconventional line of programming of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, Off-Center specializes in unexpected experiences such as Sweet & Lucky, the first large-scale immersive show in Denver and The Wild Party, a decadent 360° party set in the Roaring 20s. An Off-Center show is like no other theatre experience-by design. Off-Center focuses more on connecting people and upending expectations than on adhering to tradition. If you leave the show thinking "I've never seen anything like it," then Off-Center has done its job. We want you to lose yourself, to welcome surprise and to remember that life is better when you live it Off-Center.
Programming at the DCPA is made possible through the generous support of the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District; Theatre Company sponsors Wells Fargo, Larimer Square and Daniel L. Ritchie, and media sponsors The Denver Post and CBS4. Please be advised that the DCPA is the ONLY authorized ticket seller for Broadway tours and shows by DCPA Theatre Company, Cabaret and Off-Center. Tickets bought through secondary ticket vendors may exceed face value or be invalid.
