Curious Theatre Company presents David Ives's Venus in Fur, directed by Producing Artistic Director Chip Walton. The production runs May 1- June 14, 2014 at 1080 Acoma Street, Denver. The opening night is May 3, 2014, at 8 p.m.
In this darkly seductive tale, a sexy and mysterious actress shows up hours late for an audition, knowing she may have blown her chances at the role of a lifetime. But as she slowly turns the encounter into an electrifying game of cat and mouse, the stakes become erotic - and dangerous. Nominated for the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play, award-winning playwright David Ives's dark new comedy Venus in Fur blurs the lines between fantasy and reality, seduction and power, and love and sex.
"Venus in Fur is everything that we love at Curious - sexy, dangerous, challenging and thought-provoking," says Producing Artistic Director Chip Walton. "It is also an incredibly complex and difficult piece of theatre, which makes it an even more alluring project, given the tremendous cast and production team. It will be a real treat to dive in with company member Karen Slack, as well as our longtime collaborator Brett Aune, who we're thrilled to welcome back from LA. And I think that audiences can equally look forward to this show, and to seeing familiar Curious artists in ways that they have never seen them before!"
The cast includes Curious Artistic Company Member Karen Slack, with Brett Aune.
The creative team includes Curious Artistic Company Members Kevin Brainerd, Jason Ducat and Shannon
McKinney, with Michael Duran and Ann Meilahn.
