Colorado's Finest Singers Come Together for X-VOX: GENERATIONS JOINED IN SONG

On May 7, 2017 at 3:00 pm the halls of First Presbyterian Church will be filled with the sound of voices of many generations joined in song. The Chamber Singers of the Colorado Springs Chorale and the Summit Ensemble of the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale will present Ralph Vaughan Williams' beautiful Dona Nobis Pacem (Grant us Peace)as the featured work in this season's X-VOX: Generations Joined in Song.

The work is a haunting prayer for peace in a world too full of conflict. The Festival is under the musical direction of Chamber Singers conductor, Kimberley Schultz. The Children's Chorale's Summit Ensemble is directed by Brad Peterson. The Festival is delighted to welcome the Chamber Orchestra of the Springs to the stage with them this year, to accompany the Vaughan Williams and to also perform a selection of their own. The Chamber Orchestra is conducted by Thomas Wilson. XVOX will also feature individual performances by the Chamber Singers of the Colorado Springs Choral Society and the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale's Summit Ensemble.

X-Vox Founder and Director, Kim Schultz, says "this year, we have had the great fortune of involving so many in our community in this project. In addition to the 150 singers on the stage, we are honoring two veterans, and inviting community members to take part in offering their thoughts and encouragements about peace. We are thrilled to share this beautiful work with so many singers and with our larger Colorado Springs community, and invite you to come be a part of this unique and beautiful concert!"

Each year this unique collaboration brings together singers both young and old to perform a significant choral work, using music as a means of bridging the generational gap and building community among singers and audience members who might never otherwise cross paths. Additionally, in an age when funding for school music programs is often a challenge, the Festival gives young singers the opportunity to perform world-class compositions with a live orchestra alongside experienced and often professional singers.
