Colorado Community Theatre Coalition to Host 25th Annual Theatre Festival, 8/7-10

The Colorado Community Theatre Coalition, a statewide organization to promote and enrich community theatre in Colorado, will be hosting its 25th Annual Theatre Festival August 7 - 10 at the Denver Center Theatre Academy in the Robert and Judi Newman Center for Theatre Education, 1101 13th Street, Denver, CO 80204, right across the street from the Denver Performing Arts Complex. The festival offers performances of nine shows from community theatres across the state, twelve creative and informative workshops, an opportunity to participate in an acting competition, and a chance to network with fellow theatre lovers and experts from around Colorado. Full registration for the festival is $65 for adults and $50 for students. Tickets are also available for individual shows and workshops. Theatre companies presenting at the festival include Aspen Stage Theatre, Aspen; Bas Bleu Theatre Company, Fort Collins; Coal Creek Theater of Louisville, Louisville; Flying Rabbits Productions, Denver; Ignite Theatre, Aurora; Heather Gardens Frolics Club, Aurora; Longmont Theatre Company, Longmont; Longmont Youth Theatre, Longmont; and Vintage Theatre, Aurora.

On August 7 at 7 p.m. the CCTC Festival presents an opening night ceremony that is free and open to the public and features performances by three local community theatres: Ignite Theatre (songs from Lysistrata Jones), Platte Valley Players (songs from My Way), and Phamaly Theatre Company(songs from Fiddler on the Roof).All performances are held in the Robert and Judi Newman Center for Theatre Education at 1101 13th Street (corner of 13th & Arapahoe across from downtown's Arts Complex).

Even more exciting for this year's offering is CCTC's partnership in presenting workshops with the Denver Center Theatre Academy. Of the twelve workshops offered, five will be led by staff of the Denver Center Theatre Academy. The remaining seven workshops will be facilitated by both familiar and new presenters that are practitioners in both creative and arts administration roles in Colorado community theatre.
