Colorado Ballet has sold out all five performances of the 2016-2017 season closer The Little Mermaid. The production will run March 31-April 2, 2017 at the June Swaner Gates Concert Hall at the Newman Center for the Performing Arts and will open with a special performance of Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1.

"We knew The Little Mermaid would be popular, but could not have predicted that we would sell out the production months in advance," said Colorado Ballet Artistic Director Gil Boggs. "A few months ago, we even added a fifth performance, but that performance is also completely sold out. We are close to wrapping up our most successful ticket sales season of all time and the early sell-out of The Little Mermaid has contributed to that achievement."

The Little Mermaid features choreography by Tony Award nominated choreographer Lynne Taylor-Corbett and original music by composer Michael Moricz. The score includes narration and lyrics with the music to enhance the telling of the story. Carolina Ballet premiered this version of Hans Christian Andersen's classic story in 2012. The production will open with a special performance of Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1, choreographed by Clark Tippet featuring a vibrant violin ensemble composed by Max Bruch.

"Even though the season closer is sold out, audiences still have one more opportunity to see Colorado Ballet perform this season during Ballet MasterWorks, February 17-26 at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House," said Boggs. "This stunning production includes Firebird, Serenade and Petite Mort performed with live music by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra and should not be missed. Ballet MasterWorks is always the dancers' favorite production because it demonstrates their artistry and athleticism."

Colorado Ballet will have two small performances featuring new works during Attitude on Santa Fe March 10-11 in its Black Box Theater. The Company will also announce its lineup for the 2017-2018 season in February.
